Massive arrest in Anambra over electoral laws default

– Two men were arrested in Nsugbe for causing problems during voting
– Another man was apprehended by DSS operatives for trying to buy votes

– There were other reports of ballot snatching as well
According to reports, five people have been arrested in the current Anambra governorship polls for different electoral violations.
The Nation have reported the arrest of two culprits said to be working with the Anambra east’s local government chairman for causing problems during voting.
The reported arrests came after a fight that broke lose at Nsugbe, a ward of the APC’s candidate Tony Nwoye.
The fight was reportedly caused by All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) members.
According to Punch reports, trouble began when a man, Pius Ifeadi, a local government chairman, came to the Ward 1 Nsugbe with some boys. They tried to inspect the procedures but were halted by people present at the unit who alleged that he is working for APGA.
The violence excavated and the police have arrested two people who they believe to be thugs supporting the council boss. “The chairman is not from this ward. He belongs to another ward. But surprisingly he came here with some boys. The people resisted his attempt to start dictating for them. Then trouble began and the police took two of his boys. “This place is PDP, so we couldn’t understand why an APGA man should come here to dictate for us on how to vote,” an eye-witness said.
Another report by Vanguard reported that a man was arrested for trying to buy voters at a polling unit.
The man has been arrested DSS operatives who dragged him away.
